17 days later Twitter update.

Still have to see what happens but losing more employees after firing 7500 doesn’t seem sustainable.

Twitter away the moments that make up a dull day.

Things that could make Twitter better:

  • Kill the algorithmic timeline. I have avoided it by using Tweetbot for years and anytime I'm forced to visit Twitter.com to vote in a pole (or some other reason) I am shocked by how much crap shows up and how little of what I want to see. The only use for algorithmic timelines is discovery and that should always be optional and separate from the main feed. It will kill so many bots and other bad parts of social media if that gets reduced in importance.
  • 240 characters as a limit for tweets is great, but really at this point why isn't twitter a full blogging platform? So many people use 20 tweets to say something instead of one single tweet with an EXPAND or KEEP READING button. This blog shouldn't need to exist at this point. It should just be a part of my timeline on twitter if you click a few Read More buttons.
  • Replace TikTok by adding a second feed for short for videos from the people you follow. Make Vine live as another aspect of twitter. Like switching views from text focus to video focus.
  • Figure out how to make money from people like me that hate ads. Another reason I use and upgrade Tweetbot.
I know Elon may not be the best steward for a social media network but maybe he will change things for the better in ways that Twitter wasn't willing to for a decade.

That is my hope but I could be wrong.

So many antibodies!

That was a strange year and a half!

I'm hoping all that lost time and lives will be the pile of shit that a better and healthier future can grow in.

Rush

I was just thinking of the time I went to see Rush on the Roll the Bones tour at Miami Arena in 1992.

As I walked up the steps of the arena I turned to the people I was with and said “that’s Neil Peart” and pointed at Neil standing with a bike outside the arena (with I think Tim from Primus on his bike). I don’t know if they believed me because of how casually I said it and the way I kept moving despite being a big fan of Rush and Neil in particular. I knew he was a private person and was happy to see he wasn’t recognized by most of the Rush fans or that they also gave him his space if they did.

That show I was third row floor right in front of both Geddy Lee and Les Claypool. I was so close I could hear the drums acoustically as well as the P.A.

Thanks for all the music and words Neil.

Weird funny show from HBO in Spanish.

I was reminded of various South Floridians I've known.

Psychics: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

I wish this wasn't still a thing. Can't we (all of humanity) move beyond playing pretend now.
